ABOUT

On my last day of fifth grade, I was walking out of my classroom when my teacher pulled me aside.

She looked me in the eye and said, “Jess. Keep writing.”

Her simple but powerful words have stayed with me into adulthood. And it really is that simple – having someone, namely a thoughtful teacher, who believes in your talent can give you a boost of confidence that pushes you to keep going, even when it’s difficult.

I’m a lifelong Michigander. I graduated from the University of Michigan – Dearborn with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations/Corporate Communications. I’ve been writing freelance for many years on a variety of topics – film, television, the horror industry, real estate, mortgages, business, weddings, and the most important thing in my life: motherhood. My editorials and introspectives have been featured on sites such as The Today Show, All Horror, Your Zen Mama, and LoveToKnow. I’ve been a guest on The Johnversations Podcast, Hollywood hair & makeup artist Dean Sadler’s Youtube Channel, and true crime podcast Check the Locks

I recently completed my first novel, a dark but emotional thriller that tackles murder, grief, and the maternal impact on us all.

On the personal side, I’m a mom, first and foremost. I love to travel, hike while enjoying nature, watch bad horror movies and true crime documentaries with friends, and spend as much time near water as I can. I grew up as a competitive figure skater. Mindfulness and gratitude are important practices in my life. And of course, I love to read the kind of books that inspire me to write – anything from Lisa Jewell, Cynthia D’Aprix-Sweeney, and Gillian Flynn.
